Why do you need a website?
There are many reasons why you might want (or
need) a website.
The most common reason, of course, is if
you run a business... YOU NEED A WEBSITE!
The internet is now part of our lives. And
according to national commerce statistics, more than 63% of
Americans between the ages of 18 and 65 are now using the internet
to research products and services, before making any purchasing
decisions.
Many of these people will even make their
purchases right on your website. Others are still in the research
stage, and they're looking for more information.
For many businesses, a website is the first line
of communication between your company and your customers. Your
website will put your business at your customers' fingertips. Even
if you don't conduct all your business online, a website might be
just what your customers need to see, to get them to choose you over
a competitor.
So the first reason is if you run a business...
You need to have a
small business website.
Another reason for having a website is
for personal use. You may want to showcase your talents, or show off
something that's important to you (pictures of your latest vacation,
or perhaps a hobby, for example).
You may also want a website to express your
opinions and points of view to the world (such as a blog or CMS
website).
Whatever your reason for wanting (or needing) a
website, if you've been considering it, then you already know it's
important, and it's just a matter of time before you put one up on
the internet.
So why do YOU need a website? Is it for
business, or personal use? You probably already have a basic idea of
why you need a website, or you wouldn't be here reading this page
right now.
So now the question is... What kind of a website
do you want?
There are millions of websites on the internet,
and more being added every day. You want a website that stands out
from the crowd... One that sets you apart from everybody else, and
one that represents your personal or business values and tastes.
I've spent years visiting chat rooms, forums,
blogs, and many other types of social websites, and one thing I've
discovered is many people are confused when it comes to making the decision
of what type of website design they
should choose for their own website.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this
question. You want your website design to represent
your personal or business philosophy, your values, and the overall
"look and feel" of who you are. Do you want your website
to be fun and energetic? Or sublime and down to earth? Or serious,
or compassionate? Or perhaps you want a professional e-commerce
website with the sole purpose of selling products to your visitors?
There are nearly as many answers to this
question as there are websites on the internet. If you're unsure
about where to begin, then your best bet is to start with a simple,
efficient, clean website design. You can always add to it later, but
you need to start somewhere.
